I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pelican Hills Grill in Newport Beach, and once again it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. The interior is beautifully designed, with elegant decor that creates a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance. The view of the coastline from the outside dining area is absolutely stunning, making it the perfect spot for a memorable meal. The menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes, and everything we ordered was beyond delicious. We started with half a dozen of the raw Oysters and Crab Cake, both were fresh and flavorful. For the main course, I had their wood fire baked Pizza, which was very yummy. The BF had the Risotto which was packed with flavors. It was slightly undercooked but our server, Fletcher, was quick to make things right by offering to bring us a new one. The presentation of each dish was impeccable. The service from Fletcher was outstanding. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful dining experience, and it really showed. Overall, Pelican Hills Grill is a true gem in Newport Beach. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a great meal with a view, this place is a must-visit. I can't wait to return! #PelicanHillsGrill #NewportBeach #DiningWithAView #DeliciousEats

The restaurant is beautiful and has some awesome scenic views overlooking the ocean. Ambiance: The Pelican Grill has a fancy but comfortable feel from the moment you step inside. While you feel the need to dress up you can also come in casually dressed. Drinks: The drinks are what you would expect from a place like the Pelican Grill, delicious and with the right amount of liquor/alcohol per glass. Service: This place takes their customer service serious and we were taken care of as if we were regulars. Food: The food is amazing and its a wonder how we still had food left to take home. It took a bit of time to come out but once it came out our dishes were perfect. Tips: If you prefer a more private or quieter experience come during the mid week like Wednesday night. Also try to come when the weather is nice and sit outside in the balcony. Overall: With the beautiful views, amazing food, exceptional customer service, you really can't go wrong choosing Pelican Grill. Its a must if you live in the OC area.

We came here for my birthday celebration and it was the absolutely perfect place to go and celebrate! It's a beautiful location that overlooks the ocean. Loved that we didn't have to do valet and finding parking was very manageable. The staff was amazing, from the front desk to the cook and then to the amazing Loreto who made the dining so much enjoyable. He was very kind and made sure we got everything that we needed. He checked up on us in addition to the other staff who checked on our water. My one year old pointed out to loreto when we were taking a picture and smiled! He was very attentive to the babies too! The chairs are so comfortable! The food was delicious! The best part- the fluffiest bread I've ever had that you start with. With a pretzel flavor. Everyone talked about the bread. The lobster roll was delicious! It has a strong flavor of onions. Although I'm not a fan of onions it was still enjoyable! We brought our own cake and they brought it out and served it to us on their beautiful plates! The food could be amazing but without the right staff it can taint your experience. In this case, both was amazing!!!! They treated us with respect and didn't have that "I'm better than you attitude" Thank you!! And especially to Loreto! Definitely recommend

Celebrated turning 20 at The Pelican and I have no regrets! For a week, I have been trying to find a restaurant that has an elegant and semi-fine dining ambiance. The Pelican Grill and Bar was the perfect fit- the amazing view and attentive service, I couldn't have ask for a better birthday! The food was spectacular as it looks. My girls and I shared the dishes as we wanted to get a bite of everything! Food: -Appetizer bread: Pillowy soft starter bread! Simple yet delicious -Burrata Honeycomb Flatbread: Honey on carbs has been our new food obsession so obviously we had to try this! The rosemary was apparent and the burrata added creaminess to balance the sweetness of the honey. The bread itself was more on the chewy side and has a crust similar to a crunchy breadstick. I recommend it as a table share item! -Citrus Rosemary Chicken: The chicken was flavorful and moist! The citrus fragrant illuminated throughout the dish and into the flavor without being too sour. Get a bite of the chicken and the layer underneath! -Mac & Cheese: Better than your standard steakhouse mac and cheese! We were mesmerized by the cheese pull while scooping our servings and noted that it had just the right amount of sharpness. -Truffle Parmesan Fries: They are not skimpy on the truffles or the Parmesan! Loved it Many thanks to the staff and the Pelican for making me feel special on my big 20th! I'll come back soon to celebrate future life accomplishments

I love the view & sitting outside on the patio. This restaurant is by the Pelican hills golf course, and it's one of the best high end dining experiences . Their 1-pound rib eye is good for 2 people . Other highlights are their burger and the Chilean seabass. I also loved their crabcake, it was mostly giant chunks of crab with the right amount of seasoning. This place is amazing. Every detail is perfectly thought out. From the atmosphere, the nature, the music, the outdoor heating, architecture etc. The service was amazing. Our waitress was attentive and sweet. It's a bit pricey for lunch, but it's what you gotta pay for the view .

Pelican Grill at Pelican Hill, make sure to bring a BAND because it's going to be a Pelican BILL (and I'm not talking about avian anatomy). I'm a current UCLA student and want to say I am devastated we lost yesterday to USC in men's basketball. I'm actually a shooting guard and should've been playing at that game to be completely honest. My shot is more wet than a glass of wine. Even though I'm only 4'17, I know for a fact I can compete at the highest level. In animal behavior this quarter, we learned about how pelicans are monogamous (most of the time). However, the food here is amazing ALL OF THE TIME. The Wagyu steak melted on the roof of my mouth, putting me in a trance (not the Travis Scott song) that had my fiancé screaming "I can't save you I can't save I can't save you" - Metro Boomin. I started to blurt random things out loud yelling "Fein Fein Fein". The waiter came over, realizing this happens to everyone who eats their delicious wagyu steak, and just said "I know, I know, I know I know" - UTOPIA. Coldplay - "Your skin and bones". Not me, NEVER ME. I'm skin, bones, and a whole LOTTA MASS. Look I love Pelican grill more than I love meeting a student in pharmacy school claiming their dream was to be a pharmacist and ranting about how it's sooo much better than being a physician (they didn't get into medical schoo

Pelican Grill & Bar is a beautiful restaurant that sits at the top of Newport Beach overlooking the ocean. Reservations are a must on the website so be sure to book in advance. We had the patio seating right outside so we could see the ocean from our table. We started off with the house bread which was so fluffy and soft-- the perfect texture and flavor to go with the salted butter and sweet salsa. The Burrata Honeycomb flatbread was super sweet and crispy, I loved the honeycomb flavor with the sea salt flakes. Their Citrus Sea Bass Ceviche was very citrusy with large taro chips that went perfect with the flavor. And finally, their Chilean sea bass had the perfect texture! I loved the flavor and presentation which was so pretty. This was definitely a fan favorite. Their dessert was delicious as well which they gave complimentary for my birthday! Thank you Pelican for the great experience!

So obviously with its history you expect nothing but the best. Let's go on why it's a 4 not a 5. Upon parking. I was able to have my car parked right in front with the other fellow exotic family. Already a good experience. Valet was VERY professional. Would expect nothing less at a place like this. Would not be acceptable if it wasn't. Moving onto the food experience lol. Upon walking in we were greeted immediately. They checked our table for the view and it was everything I expected. Thank you. Ordered the special. That day it was a ribeye with mash potatoes, asparagus. Lobster roll. Pretzel. And ceviche. WHOA let em go on about that. The ceviche was the star of this whole experience with the food. Marinated perfectly. Amazing fresh taste with perfect amount of lime to cook that fish. I HIGHLY recommend this. It wasn't spicy at all. But it does have jalapeño minced. Just be aware if that isn't your thing. The steak was cooked absolutely perfect. Medium rare. Didn't even need to ask. They just did it on their own. And what happened? Perfectly good. So here's why it's a 4 though instead of a 5. Steak had absolutely NO seasoning what so ever. Just braised in butter. Not acceptable. Needs at LEAST salt and pepper. Moving onto the lobster roll. More of a fresh take. No butter ( fail ) another reason for a 4 star. Was Cooked perfectly though and garnished with basic greens. In a strange vinaigrette. You want to know how you always make a lobster roll perfectly and no one Will complain? Butter. And then just leave it alone. Simple with things like this will always win. The pretzel? WOW perfectly made. Right amount of salt. The cheese sauce? Na not really a cheese sauce. WAY to thick as a roux. Barely tastes any cheese. More like butter flower sauce with a sprinkle of cheese. Do better. Overall the view and staff makes the experience excellent. When I had been here a few years ago it was the same with the staff. Never been an issue. Would I return? Without question. Great place for appetizers and drinks. Enjoy!

Floor to ceiling would be my first gaze of this place. I'd recommend coming during the day time as I feel at night this place transforms more of a mansion like living room that is rather cozy. I'm not very used to such fancy places, so it was quite amusing to have a plate for every single course from bread to entree. And oh the stress of having three types of water and wondering does it cost more? The bread rolls come with a sort of salsa and butter, they are a little chewy like pretzel bread but have a slight sweetness. Honeycomb flat bread- less honeycomb than expected and has a distinct rosemary flavor. I quite liked the crisp of the quesadilla like format because I was expecting a sort of pizza. The portion was big enough to take home. The octopus was fried to a crisp but had some good chunks, I tend to like my octopus on the fresher side (with olive oil) to preserve the flavor. The tapenade/tomatoe sauce? On the bottom wasn't my favorite I felt it was a bit overpowering, but the basil was a lovely pairing with the potatoes. I was quite surprised by the sea bass. The portion didn't look filling, but the richness of the creamy rather filled me up. Rice was on the harder side due to variety, and sauce resembled like a coconut curry. The sea bass had more of a meaty than melt in your mouth texture and I ate the tangerines first. My friend got the paella, which I would recommend as from my view it was a plate of various big chunks of seafood and the scallop look deliciously crisped up. Overall, service was alright. It was randomly switched in the beginning which made it confusing, but the staff seemed to have a chill time with each other and the food was decent quality, but not worth a special trip if it isn't in your price range.

FOOD: Excellent - we ordered the ceviche, mussels and clams, sea bass. The ceviche in particular was great. The sea bass itself was also cooked perfectly but I didn't particularly enjoy the rice that came with the dish - it was a little too sweet for me. SERVICE: Was friendly but honestly a little slow and not very attentive. A little disappointed about this as it is Pelican Hill. AMBIANCE: We chose to sit on the patio and the view was absolutely stunning. PARKING: There is valet and self parking available - both are free. TIP: Pelican Grill is located down the hill, next to the Golf Club. After your meal, drive up to the main area of the resort to grab a drink/coffee after your meal. The resort grounds are stunning.
